UNIQUE PAIN MANAGEMENT AND WELLNESS

Unique Pain Management and Wellness is a highly effective therapeutic technique developed by Donald Goldstein R.Ac. This technique combines the use of balance method acupuncture, microcurrent electrical stimulation, and auricular therapy.

Balance Method Acupuncture is a meridian based technique developed by acupuncture master Dr. Richard Tan. Meridians are the pathways along which acupuncture points are located throughout the body. Balance method employs different imaging concepts to treat the imbalanced, or painful area. For example, head or neck pain can be successfully treated by stimulating points on the hand or foot.

Microcurrent electrical stimulation is an effective modality for the treatment of pain and injury, as well. The treatment consists of applying sub-sensory electrical frequencies to injured or painful areas. With this treatment, the patient is not aware of any sensations. Ongoing research has shown that different tissue, nerves, muscles, tendons, etc. respond to various frequencies of microcurrent. Results of the therapy will often lead to reduction of pain and increased range of motion within the area of discomfort. Microcurrent electrical stimulation is covered by most insurance companies.

Auricular therapy is considered a micro-system therapy employing stimulation of specific points in the ear that correspond to different area of the body. It is an acupuncture technique developed by the Chinese, French and Germans. In this treatment, points may be stimulated by the use of either needles or microcurrent.

Any of these treatments can be combined, or used alone to help the patient achieve their goals. Treatment time is usually 45 minutes to one hour. Severe problems require more frequent visits, to produce a longer lasting effect. When a problem stabilizes, frequency of treatments can be reduced, and eventually discontinued. For severe issues, follow-up sessions may be necessary.
